This National Guard position is for an Aircraft Mechanic Leader, Position Description Number D1410000, and is part of the Montana Air National Guard.

This position is located in an Air National Guard aircraft maintenance inspection organization. The primary purpose of this position is to lead three or more journeyman Aircraft Mechanics, WG-8852-10, crew chiefs, and specialist personnel. In addition, performs journeyman duties involving the inspection, repair, modification, and servicing of aircraft systems, components, and assemblies for both on- and off-aircraft.
On a regular and recurring basis, leads three or more aircraft mechanics, crew chiefs, and specialist personnel performing work in the inspection docks.
Monitors the work of assigned personnel, sets the pace, passes along assignments, and assures that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Works along with aircraft mechanics and specialist personnel performing journeyman work as required.
Insures that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities. Checks work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc. Serves as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives. Ensures that safety, housekeeping, security and other environmental rules are followed.
Advises the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). As requested by the supervisor, provides functional planning for the inspection docks. On a daily basis, recommends adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training that has provided sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series.
**SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must possess experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
