University of Providence Disabilities Advocate for TRIO/SSS in Great Falls, Montana

POSITION SUMMARY:The TRIO Disability Advocate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that students with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities. This position will involve coordinating special accommodations, facilitating programming, and providing support to students throughout their academic journey. This is a Part time Position with Summers off. 25 hours per week mid-Aug through mid-May. RESPONSIBILITIES:Accommodation Coordination: Organize and implement special accommodations for students with documented disabilities.Program Facilitation: Develop and manage programs specifically designed for grant-eligible students.Support Services: Recruit, train, and supervise note-takers and interpreters. Provide training and support for students using adaptive equipment. Offer guidance on coping strategies, evaluate referrals, and deliver informational sessions.Student Advocacy: Assist students in making informed decisions, develop self-advocacy skills, and advise on course selection, policies, and procedures.Student Progress Monitoring: Track student progress, follow up with faculty, and complete Personal Education Plans.Collaboration: Work closely with staff and faculty to enhance student retention.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student interactions and activities in the Student Access database.Additional Duties: Contribute to other TRIO SSS project activities as needed.REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, human services, or related field Master’s Degree preferred.
