CASCADE COUNTY Home Attendant in GREAT FALLS, Montana

At a minimum, all qualified applicants must have: Education/Experience/Training: - High School Diploma, HSE or GED required and two (2) years of experience in housekeeping services and/or assisting the senior population preferred. Certifications: -Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Montana. *JOB SUMMARY The Home Attendant is responsible for performing a variety of housekeeping, laundry, grocery and/or personal shopping duties for disabled, chronically ill, or cognitively impaired clients who are sixty years of age or older. The Home Attendant may occasionally transport clients to and from medical appointments and may also provide services to clients who have been recently released from a medical or care facility and have a short-term need for services and perform other duties as required or assigned. *ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Light housekeeping duties, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, changing bedding, cleaning toilets, scrubbing showers/bathtubs, occasional cleaning up soiled debris and sanitizing of bathrooms, and cleaning dishes; Extensive cleaning duties, including defrosting of freezers, cleaning refrigerators, washing, drying, folding and ironing clothes; Transporting and accompanying clients for personal and grocery shopping and/or do the shopping for them; Transporting clients to and from medical and professional appointments; Demonstrating excellent customer service skills; Establishing and maintaining professional and effective working relationships with co-workers, management, clients, family members, business and medical professionals and members of the public; Observing the physical and mental condition of clients through verbal and non-verbal cues and body language and reporting condition changes; Responding appropriately and adhering to established protocol in emergency situations; Attendance and punctuality; Accurate and proper cash handling and receipting in accordance with established policies and guidelines; Perform other duties as required or assigned. *Knowledge and understanding of: Housekeeping and cleaning standards and procedures, including operation of vacuum, mop, laundry machines, iron, and dishwasher; Laundry standards and procedures, including washing, drying, ironing and folding clothing; Operating a motor vehicle safely; Confidentiality rules, regulations, and standards; Safety, security and emergency protocol, practices and procedures. *Skills in: Assessing clients' conditions and needs; Observation and reporting; Time management. *Ability to: Possess and maintain an understanding, compassionate and caring attitude toward disabled, chronically ill or impaired individuals; Practice good public relations in support of the Aging Services Department and its functions; Interact with the public and co-workers in a professional, respectful and courteous manner; Interact and communicate with challenging individuals and display sound judgment under stressful situations; Work with individuals with diverse and varying backgrounds; Work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision; Complete work in a timely manner and meets established timelines and/or deadlines; Deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events; Meet established timelines or deadlines practice efficient time management and organizational skills; Read and interpret written information; Follow verbal and written instructions; Demonstrate punctuality and observe work hours; Work collaboratively with management and co-workers; Observe established lines of authority; Identify problems that adversely affect the organization and its functions and offer positive suggestions for improvements; Exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills within established standards, policies and procedures; Adhere to HIPAA standards for protection of health information and adhere to strict standards of confidentiality; While maintaining and ensuring strict adherence o HIPAA and any and all other applicable confidentiality standards, rules and regulations, report changes in client?s behavior, condition or demeanor to keep supervisor and/or family and/or caregiver fully informed; Read and interpret client?s verbal and non-verbal cues and body language to assess and monitor client?s condition; Respond appropriately in emergency situations; Accept responsibility and be self-motivated; Safely drive in all weather conditions; Accurately and properly handle cash and receipting. *The successful applicant shall serve a 6-month probationary period and will have a criminal background check conducted.
