Benefis Health Systems Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist in Great Falls, Montana
The Occupational Therapist Registered (OT) is responsible for performing age and diagnosis specific assessment and treatment relevant to the patient’s/resident’s/client’s individual needs. This assessment may include cognitive, sensory, neuromuscular, perceptual motor skills, psychosocial skills, functional daily living and work related skills, and home/work/community environments. Based on the assessment, the OT then develops a plan of care, initiates, performs and manages treatments as indicated, assesses response to treatment and assists in discharge planning. The OT provides education related to the treatment program, disease process and prevention of further injuries to the patient/resident/client and other members of the health care team. The OT delegates, as appropriate aspects of care to the OTA or Rehabilitation aide based on their job description.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for directing staff, including Occupational Therapy Assistants, Occupational Therapy Aides, Occupational Therapy certification applicants and Occupational Therapy students. Evaluates patients and recommends appropriate treatment plan, based on Occupational Therpay standards of care Assess patient pain and make appropriate referrals for intervention Develop and implement an education plan for both the patient and family as appropriate Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs Manages and operates equipment safely. Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. Meets current documentation standards and policies. Participates in staff education Coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.
Graduate from an approved school of Occupational Therapy.
Temporary licensure as governed by the State Practice Act.
Current BCLS certification.
Curent License from the State of Montana.
