Welder (Level B)Welders use welding processes to join metal component per company/contractual specifications.General Expectations and ResponsibilitiesFollow ADF safety procedures and practices.Proficiently read and interpret blueprints as needed. Proficient in reading welding symbols. Weld in the flat (1G), horizontal (2G), and vertical (3G) positions.Safely and efficiently operate hand and power tools.Proficient in the use and set up of oxyfuel and plasma cutters. Knowledge of heat distortion and prevention. Utilize Carbon Arc Cutting/Gouging processes to remove material.Understand types of welding discontinuities, prevention, and repair. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to operate on strict deadlines.Clean and properly store tools and equipment at the end of shift. Strong communication skills.Any other related duties and special projects as needed. Education, Training, or Work ExperienceHigh School Diploma or High School Equivalency.Completion of welding program and a minimum of 2,000 hours of relevant experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved OR a minimum of 6,000 hours of relevant experience. Industry certifications from AWS or CWB preferred. Proficient with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), and/or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).Physical RequirementsMust be able to stand/walk for 10 hours at a time. Ability to bend, squat, kneel for varying lengths of time. Ability to fully articulate shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist.Must be able to grasp and safely operate hand and power tools. Must be able to occasionally push, pull, lift, pull, or carry up to 75lbs. Must be able to work in various conditions (loud, hot, dusty, cold, etc.).Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend on ladders.
