Position: 

The heavy equipment operator operates a variety of medium to heavy equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities and performs a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of roads, movement of materials, and support of construction activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for moving materials, assisting with excavation and other duties needed on the job site, following all company safety policies and industry regulations. Experience with equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and graders is required.

    JOB DUTIES:

    Equipment Operation

  • Operate heavy machinery, including bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, and snowplow equipment, as required by the job specifications.

  • Maneuver machinery to safely and efficiently complete assigned tasks, such as grading, excavating, loading, and other related duties.

    Site Preparation and Material Handling

  • Prepare construction or project sites by clearing obstructions, leveling ground, and moving earth.

  • Load, transport, and unload materials safely and in compliance with site regulations.

  • Perform grading, compacting, and trenching as needed.

    Equipment Maintenance

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.

  • Report any equipment issues, malfunctions, or required repairs to the supervisor promptly.

  • Keep machines clean and well-maintained according to company and manufacturer guidelines.

    Safety Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies, wear proper protective gear, and maintain awareness of surroundings to avoid accidents.

  • Adhere to site-specific safety protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

  • Communicate with crew members and site supervisors to coordinate safe movement and operation of equipment.

    Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, hours worked, and maintenance records.

  • Complete any required job documentation, including timesheets, work orders, and safety inspections.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or industrial setting

    Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair procedures

    Valid driver’s license and CDL with a Tanker Endorsement

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    5 years of equipment operations experience

    Diesel Mechanic Experience
