Albertsons Grocery Clerk in HAMILTON, Montana
Assists the Grocery Manager in directing the operation of the Grocery Department. Assists with supervising, training, ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, and merchandising. Directs and controls the operation of the entire store in the absence of the Store Director, Assistant Store Director and Grocery Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Encourages and maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly, courteous customer service. Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques. Handles customer relations.
Performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and merchandising duties. Assists in planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations of the Grocery Department and Front End functions, including recommendations regarding regular and seasonal merchandise requirements and special sales needs. Assists in implementing Company and Division merchandising policies and/or Store Director Instructions.
Assists in the scheduling of Grocery Department employees. Monitors employee performance and attendance. Recommends personnel actions such as hiring, firing, layoff and disciplinary actions. Ensures employees are trained in the proper performance of work duties and familiarized with Company policies and regulations.
Prepares orders for various grocery items. Responsible for the proper accounting of sales, accounting for inventory, maintenance and storage of cash register detail tapes, and the issuance and pickup of money from checkers.
Ensures compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security and other policies. Initiates and follows through with corrective action as needed. Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
Responsible for the overall operation of the store including supervision of all employees, and the handling of customer complaints, in the absence of the Store Director, the Assistant Store Director, and the Grocery Manager. Performs duties of the Receiving Clerk in the absence of the Receiving Clerk.
Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.

Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative details such as planning, reporting, and meeting operating objectives, scheduling, supervising, and making hiring and disciplinary action decisions. Requires the ability to judge and react to business activity. Requires knowledge of basic math and weights and measures. Must have knowledge of product variety, location and perishability.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of checkstand and scanning procedures. Must be able to effectively operate and train others in the operation of Front End cash register and/or scanning equipment. Must be able to operate stock ordering equipment. Ability to perform Receiving Clerk's duties as required. Requires the knowledge and ability to implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
Position may occasionally require travel to other local stores.
