CONFIDENTIAL General Farm Ranch in HARDIN, Montana

Temporary full time position from 3/1/2024 to 11/30/2024 Agricultural employee is required to work with many different types of farm machinery for soil preparation, crop planting, harvesting and irrigation. The position is ?mainly? an irrigation and farming position required to till, seed, fertilize, cultivate, irrigate and harvest small grain crops, sugar beets, corn silage and dry corn. This includes making repairs and maintenance to ready the farm and irrigation equipment for the growing season as well as cleaning and winterizing the equipment in the late Fall. These duties take up an estimated 90%+ of the time between March and November. Worker will be required to drive and control farm equipment to till soil, seed/plant, fertilize, spray pesticides, cultivate, irrigate and harvest small grain crops,sugar beets, corn sileage and dry corn. Employee is required to maintain and make minor repairs of the equipment they operate. Mechanical skills and experience are required to use equipment necessary to perform the tasks above. The worker is also required to attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, sprayer, or harvester, to tractor, using mechanic?s hand tools; load and unload grain truck manually or using hand truck, loader, or transfer auger; weigh grain filled containers and record weights; and clean out grain bins. Minimal fencing will be required along with facility and grounds maintenance. To work as and agricultural equipment operator requires physical coordination, decision-making ability, mechanical aptitude and driving skills. Only a limited amount of time will be spent working with livestock (less than 10% of the time), and it does not include feeding livestock year-round as the cattle are moved to forage on the summer range during the months from April to November. The workers may help throw some hay in March, put out salt and mineral blocks and/or break ice in the pastures (when needed), but daily feeding and watering is not required. The ability to listen to and follow verbal directions is imperative. The job entails working outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, cold, wind dust, rain and snow). Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Worker is required to have a current driver?s license. In general, the employee will perform duties that are necessary for an irrigated farm raising sugar beets, wheat, barley, corn and cattle. Repetitive duties to be completed on a regular/daily basis include: a. Mechanics and upkeep of farm equipment b. Mechanics shop kept in working order c. Preparing and storing equipment used in fieldwork d. Irrigating (both flood and pivot) e. Throw hay to livestock in March only f. Field work (includes all phases of field preparation, spraying, harvest, irrigation) g. Upkeep of corrals and fences h. Communicate with employer using business radio of cell phone i.
