The duties of a Deputy Sheriff are, but not be limited to, the responsibility of protection of lives, property, maintaining law and order, enforcing laws, conducting the investigation of crimes, arresting violators, the service of legal processes, testifying in court proceedings, accurate detailed record keeping and all associated/related job duties. This job also requires your involvement in continued education throughout your career.
QUALIFICATIONS:
United States citizenship as per MCA 7-32-303
Must meet minimum age requirements
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
Must have a good driving record and possess a Montana driver's license
Be in good physical condition
Posses a Montana P.O.S.T. certification or be able to obtain one within twelve (12) months of hire
Have the ability to legally possess a firearm and have no felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors
Be of good moral character
Good verbal and written communication skills
React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
Able to work nights, weekends and holidays
Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
Articulate yourself in clear and concise speech
Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, and the ability to perform essential functions of this position
Employment is conditional on passing a criminal background check, physical/drug screen and obtaining a Montana P.O.S.T certification.
