Brief Position Overview

The College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Montana State University Northern ( MSUN ), invites applications for an academic-year (10-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teacher Education position, anticipated to begin August 1, 2023. The program delivers instruction and services to students located on the MSU -Northern and Great Falls campuses. Primary teaching responsibilities support both the health enhancement (non-teaching) and health and physical education programs, as well as general education courses. Duties and responsibilities of this position also include work with faculty and other academic programs; participating in scholarship and service activities; participating in program development; and assisting with student recruitment, retention, and progression efforts.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

· Doctoral degree in Health and Physical Education, K-12 Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field in teacher education by August 1, 2023.

· Demonstrated engagement with student success initiatives.

· Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

· Hold current or prior state licensed elementary or secondary teacher with full-time teaching experience at K-8 or 5-12 level in Health and Physical Education.

· College teaching experience in methods, foundations, and curriculum courses.

· Experience with clinical/field supervision in practicums and student teaching.

· Demonstrated advising and mentoring of undergraduate students.

· Ability to teach online courses and utilize other alternative delivery modes of instruction.

· Ability to travel.

Title IX Coordinator

The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the University’s compliance with federal and state discrimination and harassment laws, including Title IX. The Title IX Coordinator oversees compliance with the University’s Discrimination and Grievance Policy. Specifically, the Title IX Coordinator:

  • Coordinates educational programs and trainings regarding discrimination and harassment prevention for students and employees;
