The Career Center supports the goals of MSU -Northern by providing a comprehensive network of employment services for students and employers. The top priority of the Career Center is to help students learn about the world of work and find a successful place in it. The professional staff is involved daily with contacts in business, industry, and education in order to maintain MSU -Northern’s visibility and market Northern students and graduates.
This position requires the employee to work well independently with minimal guidance. The position requires attention to detail, good organizational skills, relationship-building skills, and the ability to prioritize projects and tasks.

General Statement
The Career Center supports the goals of MSU -Northern by providing a comprehensive network of employment services for students and employers. The top priority of the Career Center is to help students learn about the world of work and find a successful place in it. The professional staff is involved daily with contacts in business, industry, and education in order to maintain MSU -Northern’s visibility and market Northern students and graduates.
This position requires the employee to work well independently with minimal guidance. The position requires attention to detail, good organizational skills, relationship-building skills, and the ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Director with various services offered by the Career Center, such as office management, employer recruiting, Career Fairs, on and off-campus employment, Co-op Internships, stats/graphs, yearly Graduate Survey, Career Center website, etc.
Help manage the Career Center website and employer software service, which includes monitoring activity, approving employer/contact profiles and positions, co-op internships, student profiles, Career Fairs, and on-campus recruiting. Assist students, employers, and faculty using the website and answer questions. Communicate new jobs with pertinent faculty, to help get the word out to students and alumni.
Assist with coordinating employer on-campus recruiting visits, Info Sessions, and interview schedules. Reserves campus locations, order food, and communicates information to students.
Coordinate with the Director on the bi-annual Career Fairs, including registration, processing payments, interview schedules, and food orders. Coordinates with other campus departments involved in the Career Fairs, including Facilities, Campus Catering and Communications & Marketing.
Identify and coordinate employment for on-campus jobs and Co-op Internships for students. Acts as liaison between employers, students, and faculty. Assist employers and faculty to develop Co-op learning objectives. Assists in registration and approval processes. Monitors student progress on Co-ops and communicates important deadlines throughout the semester, including Mid-Term Report, Evaluations, and timesheets. Manages co-op internship records and keeps spreadsheet up to date.
Assist students and graduates with resumes, cover letters, job searches. Help faculty, staff, alumni, and community members with services provided by the Career Center.
Serves on pertinent University committees.
Other duties as assigned as they support the mission of Career Center and MSUN .
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Increasingly responsible knowledge in the area of career services, employment, communication, or business
OR
Associate degree or equivalent higher education in business, communication or another relevant field

Title IX Coordinator
The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the University’s compliance with federal and state discrimination and harassment laws, including Title IX. The Title IX Coordinator oversees compliance with the University’s Discrimination and Grievance Policy. Specifically, the Title IX Coordinator:
Coordinates educational programs and trainings regarding discrimination and harassment prevention for students and employees;
Responds to and seeks to resolve reports of discrimination and harassment following the Procedures;
Provides information about and, if requested, assists with criminal reporting;
Provides information about resources for obtaining advocacy, healthcare, and counseling services; and
Coordinates supportive and protective measures for members of the MSUN community.
