The Salvation Army Southwest Division Case Worker in Havre, Montana

Description

GENERAL STATEMENT: The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church and the ultimate goal of all programs is spiritual regeneration of all people.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have High School diploma or equivalent. Should have experience working with the public, preferably social service experience. Valid Driver's license.

Ability to operate office machinery such as a calculator, desktop computer, typewriter, fax machine, scanner and copier

Ability to deal with the public and control unusual situations with clients such as when they get emotional.

Ability to problem solve, make decisions and prioritize.

Crisis intervention skills

Ability to evaluate the needs and have knowledge of issues affecting low-income individuals and families.

COMPUTER SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:

Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel required

Outlook, helpful

Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answer incoming phone calls and determine the most appropriate resolution

Input information from client applications into the social service computer system.

File client applications and other office related filing to appropriate file cabinets

Screen clients to ensure services are legitimate and funds are available to give assistance requested

Council with clients to ensure all their needs are being met

Be familiar with all agencies in the community so as to be able to refer clients to those agencies when The Salvation Army cannot meet those needs

Process all social service requests through the Havre Service Center Director for final approval or disapproval

Keep statistics on all clients and services rendered

Code Bills, scan to AP and prepare them to be sent to DHQ.

Prepare Donor deposits and send them to Lockbox.

Respond when request to assist the Havre Service Center Director with emergency service issues

Represent the Havre Service Center Director in his or her absence.

Will be accountable to DHQ in the absence of the Havre Service Center Director

Comply with existing policies, rules and Salvation Army regulations

Assist with other assigned duties as requested

Help with back to school program, holiday assistance and other special social service programs

Attend trainings as they come up that correspond with social work

Attend/take computer trainings on currant software programs as the programs are updated

Willing to work with and possibly training community volunteers

Record Gift In Kind (GIK) using an Excel spread sheet.

Willing to visit with RISP Clients as needed.

Have a valid driver's license and be willing to complete Precise Driving to operate a Salvation Army vehicle.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis

Ability to climb/descend at least 17 stairs carrying items. (Example: angel tree gifts, food pantry items, Gift in Kind items)

Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead

Ability to operate the telephone

Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (reams of paper, Giving Tree gifts, school supplies Gift in Kind items, etc)

Ability to access and produce information from a computer

Ability to understand written information

"The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and any contractual obligations relative to COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff, if required. The Salvation Army will consider requests for exemptions from any such requirements on either religious or medical grounds."

Once a conditional offer has been made and then accepted by the applicant, The Salvation Army may then ask specific questions about vaccination status, if applicable. If the applicant requests an exemption, then processes described in this summary should be followed.
