Brief Position Overview
MSU -Northern’s Office of Teaching & Learning Excellence ( OTLE ) is dedicated to the support and advancement of evidence-based teaching and learning practices and the professional development of all members of the MSU -Northern teaching community. OTLE partners with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop and sustain a culture that values and rewards teaching, respects and supports individual differences among learners, and creates learning environments in which diverse students and instructors can excel.
The Director of OTLE oversees faculty professional development programming and learning management system ( LMS ) administration to facilitate high-quality instruction across various course modalities, including face-to-face, online, and hyflex teaching. This position plans, develops, and coordinates programs to provide students with LMS support and to facilitate a productive faculty community of practice around instructional design, instructional technology, academic program and pedagogical assessment, and general career development. This position participates in the Montana University System eLearning advisory committee.

General Statement

Duties and Responsibilities
· Oversee continuous strategic planning, implementation, and assessment for OTLE .
· Direct the design and development of initiatives to meet the needs of faculty at MSU -Northern in the areas of instructional design, instructional media and technology, learning outcomes assessment, new faculty onboarding, and general professional growth.
· Oversee and provide training to faculty on current research in the scholarship of teaching and learning across various instructional modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hyflex).
· Maintain a working knowledge of current research in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).
· Maintain a working knowledge of all federal, state, regional accreditation, university system, and college policies relating to online education.
· Oversee the development and implementation of faculty training for accessibility and ADA regulation compliance in online education.
· Oversee and ensure timely submission of assessment and reports as required in the areas of online/distance education and faculty development outcomes; assess and report on the effectiveness of OTLE .
· Administer and coordinate subscriptions and agreements updates, accessibility, settings, documentation, and training related to the Learning Management System (Brightspace/Desire2Learn, Canvas) and related 3rd party services utilized by MSU -Northern.
· Collaborate with campus partners, including academic support services, to enhance support for teaching and learning initiatives and promote cross-campus collaboration.
· Provide effective leadership and supervision to OTLE staff.
· Manage an office budget.
· Participate on institutional committees as requested.
· Support the mission and goals of the institution.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Master’s degree in any area, with coursework or formal training in education, educational leadership, technology in education, curriculum development or similar
Experience with face-to-face, online, and/or hyflex teaching and technology
Demonstrated excellence in writing and oral communication
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
• Doctoral degree in any area, with coursework or formal training in education, educational leadership, technology in education, curriculum development or similar
• Demonstrated work experience in higher education
• Demonstrated expertise in using technology to deliver material to a variety of audiences
• Demonstrated program and curriculum planning, implementation, and assessment
• Experience implementing inclusive teaching practices
• Demonstrated supervisory experience
• Demonstrated managerial experience
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting

Title IX Coordinator
The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the University’s compliance with federal and state discrimination and harassment laws, including Title IX. The Title IX Coordinator oversees compliance with the University’s Discrimination and Grievance Policy. Specifically, the Title IX Coordinator:
Coordinates educational programs and trainings regarding discrimination and harassment prevention for students and employees;
Responds to and seeks to resolve reports of discrimination and harassment following the Procedures;
Provides information about and, if requested, assists with criminal reporting;
Provides information about resources for obtaining advocacy, healthcare, and counseling services; and
Coordinates supportive and protective measures for members of the MSUN community.
