Job DetailsHotel General Manager Best Western Plus Great Northern Inn1345 1st Street Havre, MT 59501Overview of JobThe Best Western Plus Great Northern Inn is nestled in beautiful, North Central Montana, 40 miles South of the Canadian border, located on Hwy 2, on the road map to Glacier National Park.Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the hotel operations, including guest relations, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, finances, team building, and staff development. Responsible for all phases of hotel/management, including sales and marketing, human resources, food and beverage, and budgeting/forecasting. Empowering associates to provide superior customer care to guests, associates, and other visitors.Property Information74 spacious guest rooms; newly renovated through a Best Western Property Improvement Plan, lounge and casino, meeting room, fitness center, pool, and spa.Job DutiesGuest Service:•Create and maintain customer-driven operations, empowering hotel staff to excel in superior customer care•Deliver superior service and maximize guest satisfaction•Respond efficiently and accurately to guest complaints, demonstrating a commitment to guest services by responding to guest needs•Training staff on how to interact with guests and how to handle guest complaints Financial•Accountable for the overall financial performance of the hotel; including developing and implementing a sales plan based on the demand of the hotel in order to obtain new business•Adhere to brand standards and expected service levels to increase sales while minimizing costs•Direct the staff towards the achievement of the hotel’s financial goals•Maintain a conservative budget in order to maximize profit margins; while balancing costs with guest satisfaction and quality•Responsible for establishing and reporting financial goals to the Chief Operations Officer and Executive Manager, including but not limited to; accountability of sales, staffing and labor costs, guest comments, progress on projects, hotel performance and financial results •Responsible for ensuring that all financial and personnel reporting is completed accurately, and submitted to the accounting/HR department on a timely basis, and in accordance with company policyHuman Resource Management•Manage human resource functions including recruiting, selection, orientation, training, and performance planning and evaluation•Cultivate a culture of pride, cooperation and success •Assign and define areas of responsibility for each employee•Coach and develop new and existing employees through consistent feedback, and clear expectations•Create and manage schedules for hourly employees based on employee availability and hotel demand•Perform employee reviews and develop corrective action plans if neededAsset & Product Management•Maintain physical product standards by leading the preventative maintenance program •Ensure employee involvement in the preventative maintenance program•Protect the interest of the hotel during capital projects•Achieve an above average+ score on Quality Assessments•Inspect all areas of the hotel on a regular basis; including guest rooms (FF&E), public spaces, lounge and casino, building exterior, grounds and parking lot •Plan future orders for guest room supplies, cleaning products, food, beverage, etc. based on hotel demand•Communicate effectively with vendors, addressing any products, or service concerns•Comply with brand standardsSafety & Security•Maintain proper security procedures to provide a safe environment for staff, guests and company assets•Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, and ordinances (including food, alcohol, and gambling)•Recognize and correct potential safety hazards•Comply and adhere to all company policies and procedures•Have sound knowledge of all emergency proceduresQualifications•Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Business Administration, Finance or related major preferred or the equivalent work experience•Minimum of 1 (one) year of management, supervisory experience, or similar role•Best Western brand experience highly preferred•Proven customer service experience as a manager; strong guest focused mentality•Extensive hospitality knowledge•Honesty and integrity in all areas of the hotel, bar, and casino operations•Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated•Adaptable and flexible•Leadership skills, with the ability to delegate, motivate, and inspire•Decision-making and problem-solving skills•Strong professional image•Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)•Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook), and hotel PMS•Acute Financial Management skillsJob Type•Full-timeSchedule•8-10 hour shifts•Holidays •Weekends•Must adapt for staff shortages and hotel occupancyExperience•Hotel management experience 1 year (preferred)Work Location•One locationWork Remotely•NoBenefits•Health Insurance•Dental Insurance•Vision Insurance•Paid time off•Employee Discount•Bonus PaySalary•Depending on Experience
