Intermountain Healthcare Senior Actuarial Associate (Remote) in Helana, Montana
The Actuarial Associate role provides actuarial and underwriting expertise and contributes to the organization's financial soundness. Applies actuarial and underwriting principles to the design and financial management of health care benefit programs and financing systems.
While this position supports the Intermountain Nevada and Castell teams, this position can be performed remotely. Intermountain Healthcare maintains employment registration in UT, ID, NV, CO, KS, MT, and WY. Other locations may be considered. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, HI, NJ, NY, WA.
This position will require occasional travel to Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. (estimated less than 10%).
This position interacts with the Finance teams at Castell and Intermountain Nevada, finance and accounting managers for Castell and Intermountain Nevada, consulting actuaries, internal and external auditors, financial personnel and attorneys, as well as staff in the various areas of the business. This position reports to the Actuarial Manager- Castell/Nevada . This position:
Provides direction and oversight of product design and rating structures for new and existing products and all associated internal / external systems and state filing requirements.
Coordinates and develops all required rate and compliance certifications, and ensures a cooperative and effective relationship with Insurance Departments of State governments.
Provides direction and oversight for the development and maintenance of analysis, forecasting, and reporting of claims experience and trends, both in aggregate and various components.
Analyzes and develops financial statement reserves and other liabilities including IBNR, contingent settlements, incentive and risk-share payments, reinsurance claims and other third-party claims and liabilities, etc.
Provides input and support for internal and external audits and reporting.
Provides direction and oversight of development and maintenance of analysis, forecasting, and reporting of budget projection inputs, both in aggregate and various components.
Analyzes, develops and maintains administrative expense models.
Provides direction and oversight of development, analysis, and reporting of facility, physician, and other provider reimbursement structures. Models and services utilization information.
Designs, develops, and maintains data extracts and complex queries and on-line data analysis and reporting tools.
Bachelor's degree in math, statistics, computer science, economics or finance obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
ASA and eight years of relevant actuarial experience or FSA and five years of relevant actuarial experience.
Intermediate skills with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and analytic software (e.g. SQL, SAS, etc.).
Actuary experience within a Medicare Advantage plan either employed by a health plan or a medical group that is delegated by a health plan to manage the MA population.
Experience settingfinancial statement reserves including IBNR and other actuarial liabilities.
Experience with actuarial population health, value based care (VBC), and/or ACO models/benchmarks.
Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.
