Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, lead and direct the work of a team focused on ideation, creation, and continuous improvement of business intelligence and reporting to benefit state and local education agencies.

  • Apply a consultative mindset in interactions with clients and peers to understand client agency needs and opportunities to leverage data to improve outcomes, policies, and processes in the education context.

  • Create and improve systems that lead to efficiencies and improvements in state and agency level collection, integration, and reporting.

  • Drive and maintain the regional blueprint for innovation, new data solutions, and data services.

  • Position the organization to apply the most contemporary analytical and data science related technologies by developing the skill sets, methods, processes, standards, and best practices of the team.

  • Gather, define, and drive business requirement processes and maintains documentation.

  • Responsible for the management of data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, etc. for various products and related services.

  • Develop, streamline, and actively participate in testing initiatives.

  • Actively participate in practice area and firm wide initiatives related to improvements to data engineering.

  • Support aspects of the business cycle, including system demonstrations, proposals, and implementations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, and equivalent work experience.

  • 5 or more years of leadership experience, with most of that experience aligned with Data Strategy and Data Management.

  • Experience with data within the Education industry is highly desirable, including – familiarity and working knowledge of Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) and various interoperability standards (e.g., Ed-Fi, SIF, 1Edtech, etc.).

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in multiple competency areas of data and analytics delivery, ideally in the education context.

  • Experience with data analytics using the latest BI frameworks and appropriate data mining, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence techniques.

  • The ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options. The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, operational, IT and analytic stakeholders.

  • Information strategy experience – Experience in strategic technology planning and execution, and policy development and maintenance.

  • Analytical skills – Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to non-technical audiences, and business concepts to technologists.

  • Proven ability to work ethically and with integrity.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a remote position that will require occasional travel (10-20%) to client sites, conferences, PCG meetings/events

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $120,000 - $140,000 and a potential discretionary bonus of up to 10%. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
