If so, then you may be interested in the Accountant position in the Centralized Services Division. As an Accountant you will perform or oversee all general ledger accounting, contract management, cash management, financial analysis, and account reconciliation functions for divisions within the department of Labor & Industry. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills, or abilities: Knowledge of: * Principles and practices of governmental accounting. * Research and analysis practices. * Budgeting and auditing. * Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; Governmental Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting requirements. * Reconciliation and system testing methods and practices. Skills in: * Decision Making - Identify, understand, and predict issues, problems, and opportunities. * Communication - Clearly convey and receive information and ideas in a timely manner through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience, helps them understand and retain the message, and permits response and mechanisms to accomplish internal and external communication. * Planning and organization - Set priorities, allocate resources. Identify and assess innovative alternatives. Understand priority setting is dynamic and recognize at any given time what is the highest priority. Ability to: * Manage Conflict - Must be able to deal effectively with others in difficult situations. Use appropriate interpersonal styles or methods to reduce conflict. Recognize different viewpoints and allow others to express their views. Remain professional and objective. * Acquire and maintain technical/professional expertise required to manage program effectively. Actively support continuous learning and keep abreast of new developments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * The required knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of directly related education and experience equivalent to five years. * Equivalent combinations include an Associate degree in accounting or related field and three years of directly related experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
