State of Montana Accounting Systems Analyst in Helena, Montana

We are looking for an experienced Accountant with an understanding of SABHRS to join our team of 6 Financial Systems Analysts. Simply put, these roles act as translators between the business owners, the State Accountants, and our SABHRS programing team. You would be integral in ensuring SABHRS functions to meet the needs of Accountants across State Government. Less simply put, The Financials Systems Analyst is responsible for: • Overseeing the installation, configuration, and testing for new, existing, or modified SABHRS (PeopleSoft) modules. • Focusing on meeting the business needs of our stakeholders. • Testing components to determine system performance. • Trouble-shooting system issues. • Providing solutions to the State’s business process issues. • Conducting research about existing and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and efficiencies. • Technical support and project management. Accounting and SABHRS experience are both crucial to this role, and we are ready and willing to train the technical aspects the successful candidate will need to learn. Competencies: • Knowledge of financial, budget and accounting business processes and practices. • Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures associated with the design, development, and support of computer financial applications. • Knowledge of MS Office software products and ability to learn new tools quickly. • Use analyses and judgment to make decisions to solve complex problems. • Understand system data integrity and apply information security standards. • Identify and consider possible alternatives before making decisions. • Find effective solutions while considering short-term and long-term impact. • Work independently and as part of a team. • Follow policies, procedures, and industry standards. • Build constructive and effective relationships with internal and external customers. • Understand personal authority and when to escalate issues. • Generate ideas and fresh perspectives and engage in open-minded thinking. • Adapt to changing conditions and work responsibilities. • Display optimism about assigned work, share expertise, and respond positively to challenges. • Provides leadership and/or mentors in areas of knowledge that will help others. • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and to both technical and non-technical people. Education and Experience: • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field and two years applicable experience. OR • An associate’s degree in accounting, or related field and four years applicable experience. AND • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
