State of Montana Administrative Assistant - 50530 in Helena, Montana

The Water Resources Division is responsible for managing Montana’s water for the present and future needs of its people. We compile accurate, up-to-date stream flow data from more than 90 monitoring gages, providing critical data for managing reservoirs, irrigation schedules, water rights permitting and adjudication, implementation of Montana's water compacts, floodplain management and other services for farmers, ranchers, citizens and communities. We also manage the operation and maintenance of 24 state-owned dams and 250 miles of irrigation canals.

*JOB OVERVIEW: *The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing a full range of professional support to the Water Operations Bureau. In addition, this position provides administrative support to the Board of Water Well Contractors. Duties include a wide variety of administrative support functions such as records management, receptionist, providing support for meetings including scheduling, taking and transcribing minutes, preparing documents; and researching and organizing information for various projects, meetings and reports.

The person in this position will also help respond to requests for information to assist well owners, act as an Executive Assistant to the Board of Water Well Contractors, assist our Program Manager with trainings, and help receive and process water well applications.

This position requires thorough knowledge of office administrative, file and record management, and taking meeting minutes. This position also requires effective proofreading, formatting and editing skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills. The person in this position should also have the ability to maintain effective working relations with office staff, other state agencies and the public, and have the ability to work under pressure and with accuracy.
