The successful applicant must be able to work long shifts at the Lewistown worksite for three or more weeks during the summer. Work schedules for summer seasons in subsequent years will be negotiable. Work schedules vary: forty-day schedule, 8-10/hr. days, approximately 130-160 hours per instructor throughout the summer. This position is seasonal, recurring annually. As part of a team of instructors, this position is responsible to teach/train workshop participants who attend Montana DRIVE Summer season advanced training workshops. This position additionally assumes basic office, facility and vehicle responsibilities related to delivering the instruction. The Traffic Education unit operates an advanced driving school in Lewistown, Montana. Under the direct and indirect supervision of the traffic education director, and as part of a team of instructors, this position is responsible to teach/train workshop participants who attend Montana DRIVE summer workshops. This position additionally assumes basic office, facility and vehicle responsibilities related to delivering the instruction to diverse adult students in various professional and non-professional roles. Duties include the following: attend all advanced traffic education in-service training sessions; provide advanced traffic education instruction to all classroom and vehicle workshop participants according to a mutually agreed upon schedule; on a rotational basis perform as the team leader and coordinate facility activities; supervise and act as a “master teacher” for participating student teachers; process required paperwork for college credit registration, renewal unit registration, student teacher evaluation, driver performance ratings, vehicle fueling, and completion certificates; make decisions regarding facility and vehicle maintenance, completing appropriate maintenance/repair forms and performing daily facility and vehicle inspections/maintenance as required; comply with all program rules, regulations, and safety procedures; and perform any all other related duties as assigned. _Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience_): · Bachelor’s degree in education with a Traffic Education certificate or endorsement and a minimum of two years’ experience. _or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree_: · 5 or more years of job-related work experience in a profession that utilizes and trains drivers in emergency response or commercial vehicles/equipment; or · 5 or more years of experience in an aspect of traffic and safety education with teen drivers. · Alternate combinations of education and 5 or more years of equivalent experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. _Does this sound like you?_ Please tell us how and why by submitting your resume online, including any veterans or disability preference documentation.When submitting the required documents, you must check the “relevant document” box to ensure your attachments are uploading correctly to the specific application for this position.Documents not requested will not be considered in the recruitment process.
