SHI ASG Software Engineer - AI in Helena, Montana

Job Summary

SHI is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Advanced Solutions Group. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity toleveragecutting-edgegenerative AI platforms to drive productivity and foster innovation.

As the Software Engineer - AI, your main responsibilities will revolve around the analysis, design, and development of solutionsutilizingthe Azure OpenAI Large Language Model. Collaborating closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you will gain a deep understanding of their business needs and provide them with tailored solutions and expert guidance.

Your primary technology stack will involve Python and SQL applications deployed on Azure infrastructure. Additionally, you will work with Databricks workspaces and interface with the Microsoft and OpenAI Generative AI Large Language Model. There may also be opportunities to collaborate with developersutilizingother technologies such as .NET, React, SQL Server,PostGres, andElasticSearch.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and implement generative AI and data solutions in Python, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver satisfactory generative AI solutions.

  • Work cross-functionally to successfully deliver end-to-end AI projects.

  • Contribute to technical and architectural decision-making for scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions.

  • Communicate complex AI concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Monitor andoptimizeperformance of generative AI models.

  • Mentor team members in adopting generative AI technologies and best practices.

  • Participate inoptimizingend-to-end data architecture.

  • Set a high standard of technical excellence and consistently deliver high-quality solutions.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of Pythonsoftwaredevelopment experience. This experienceshould beduringthe last 5 years and used as a primary job function.

  • 3+ years of experienceatAPIsandDataprocessing with Python

  • 1+ years of experience with JSON, NoSQL and/or Vector data and related data stores

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated experience manipulating data with python using Pandas or similar

  • Experience deploying Python solutions in Azure, including Function apps, connecting services, and deploying Python applications.

  • Experience developing against generative AI platforms from Microsoft,Googleor Facebook

  • Experience with Serverless Technologies

  • Experience withEvent Driven Architecture

  • Experienceprocessing and reporting againstlarge amountsof data

  • Building ETL pipelinesand working with Data Lakes,Lakehouses, Data Warehouses

  • Experiencedevelopingon theDatabricksplatform a plus

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of Generative AI,LLMs,andPrompt engineering.

  • Ability to understand testing, test frameworks and plans, anddeliverquality work.

  • Ownership mentality and excellentconsulting skills.

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $120,000 - $165,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
