About the Team
The Communications and Marketing team is responsible for building and protecting the College Board reputation, overseeing organization's communications efforts, and growing the organization's three highest priority areas: AP, SAT Suite, and BigFuture, which are designed to increase educational access and opportunity for all students. We are a close knit, dedicated team with a track record of success in promoting the work of the College Board to a variety of audiences, including students, parents, educators, policymakers, the media, member organizations and staff.
About the Opportunity
As our Assistant Director of Social Media, you are shaping and executing social media content strategies for several organizational accounts, with a focus on college and career planning content for BigFuture. You will ensure alignment of these activities to our goals and objectives, and to our broader social media strategies.
You are a collaborative partner with designers to develop social media assets - including editorial and video content - that represent College Board, BigFuture, and other programs in this space, as well as amplifying content that is created by others in the organization. You will support the day-to-day management of the College Board Creators program, which gathers marketing and social media content about college and career planning from students.
In this role, you will:
Support development and management of strategies and editorial calendars for several organizational social media accounts, with a focus on college and career planning content for BigFuture
Create content that adheres to College Board and BigFuture brand standards and resonates with students and other key audiences.
Create and proofread original content, including some content in Spanish.
Support management of social media processes from strategy to execution to reporting, including working with Communications, Customer Service, and the College Board programs.
Support the work of groups looking to amplify their messages on social media or listen to their audience to analyze sentiment.
Monitor online conversations and commentary. Write and approve responses as needed, responding with appropriate protocols/reviews for crisis communications and issue resolution.
Grow BigFuture and College Board's presence through designated social media platforms.
Research topics for compelling content to reach Gen Z and other key audiences. Develop understanding of topics and audiences for designated accounts.
Support social listening efforts on designated channels.
Create social media content for internal communications and BigFuture brand ambassadors that helps amplify our key messages
At least 1 year of directly related, progressively responsible work experience in social media, public relations and/or marketing
A demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful online marketing and social media programs
A demonstrated track record of adopting advanced communications strategies and tools, and leading integrated communications and marketing teams
Extensive knowledge of how to gather audience insights and create content aligned with those insights
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent project management and organization skills
Ability to speak and write in Spanish
Attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively handle multiple situations simultaneously
Knowledge of social media and student trends, and desire to continue to adapt to an ever- changing landscape
Computer literacy; knowledge of Sprinklr or other social media publishing software preferred, but desire and ability to learn is acceptable
