The College Board Assistant/Associate General Counsel, Employment in Helena, Montana
The Assistant/Associate General Counsel, Employment will advise and partner with the College Board Talent Team (HR) and business leaders on a day-to-day basis on the full range of employment law issues.
Advise and partner with the Talent team and busines leaders on: compliance with anti-discrimination laws (Title VII, ADA, FMLA); FLSA classifications; state and federal government contractor compliance (OFCCP, AAPs); pay equity and diversity; Covid regulations and policies; recruiting, compensation and benefits; employment-related contracts (severance agreements, employee agreements); vendor agreements for the Talent Team; performance management and employee relations; employee training; advising on terminations; internal investigations; and EEOC responses
Assume additional legal responsibilities outside of employment-related work, depending on Legal Team needs (e.g., 10-20% time)
Report to the Deputy General Counsel
3-10 years of practice as an employment lawyer, with at least two years of practice at a law firm
Broad employment law experience
The role may be fully remote, though candidates in commuting distance of College Board's Reston, VA and NYC offices may be preferred.
Strong communication and writing skills
Enjoys working in teams and cross-functionally; able to lead projects but also to play a supporting role
Strong relationship builder
A pragmatic "doer" who takes ownership and accountability, including for execution - this role is not about advising the internal client of options and then stepping back
Comfortable making hard decisions
Eager to chip in on non-employment law work to support the Legal Team
