Pearson Business Analyst in Helena, Montana
Responsibilities
The Digital Content Developer will serve in a solutions-oriented role in a cross-functional capacity in the planning, building, and delivery of next-generation digital assessment products and platforms. As a Digital Content Developer within the Digital Development and Delivery team you will partner with multiple stakeholders in brainstorming, designing, planning, documenting, building, and launching web, mobile, and tablet based digital testing platforms in an Agile environment. Your passion for all things digital combined with a strong analytical background will identify market opportunities, focus on user experience, and drive product excellence from requirements definition to product launch and support.
Key responsibilities include:
Work with cross-functional teams, facilitate, determine and document functional specifications, use cases, and workflow process diagrams using interviews, document analysis, product research, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions and scenarios
Contribute to the development and elaboration of user stories with cross-functional teams
Contribute to selection of the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative, ensuring traceability back to source. Discover and analyze requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate.
Obtain agreement by stakeholders and recipients to the scope and requirements and establish a baseline on which delivery of a solution can commence. Manage requests for and the application of changes to base-lined requirements. Identify areas of scope ambiguity and drive to resolution in a timely manner.
Collaborate with developers, product managers, research directors, and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability, performance, cost, and product needs
With product owners and teams, lead digital feature/product implementation and/or source third party solutions when appropriate
Partner with technical resources to define and document system requirements, architecture, and specifications
Lead and participate in collaborative multi-disciplinary work sessions and development sprints to adapt requirements as needed
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, break down high-level information into details
Facilitate user acceptance, evaluate consumer pathways, and recommend product improvements
Partner with project management and digital team throughout project lifecycle to define and communicate digital scope, estimates, schedule, deliverables, dependencies, project plan, risk plan, issues and status
Participate in agile software development ceremonies
Execute report coding, unit testing and code reviews, fully and properly test code to ensure the highest levels of reliability and maintainability
Work with user experience teams to create wireframes and detailed prototypes as needed
Ensure standards for development efficiency are enforced in the build process
Provide inputs to testing plans for product and user acceptance test phases
Coordinate user training and documentation
Assist in the definition, tracking, monitoring, and evaluation of key product metrics
Implement business stakeholder engagement/ communications plans, including, for example; handling of complaints; problems and issues; managing resolutions; corrective actions and lessons learned; collection and dissemination of relevant information. Uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management. Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.
Act as a digital product expert, is available and responsive. Operates in a self-directed manner to ensure team understanding of what needs to be done and ensures proper communication and understanding.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or appropriate combination of education and experience. Course work in educational or psychological measurement and/or computer science is helpful but not required.
At least 3+ years relevant experience and proven ability
Experience in test development, writing functional requirements for software, or applications programming is desired.
Although knowledge of a specific computer language is not required, an understanding of and experience using Java or another structured programming language, HTML, and/or XML, C, C#, C++, etc... is desired.
Demonstrated service and project management experience dealing with global business units.
Problem-solving skills which include a systematic approach from problem analysis and research to evaluation of alternative solutions
Must have excellent communication and English-language skills.
Must be able to handle work on many projects at once, prioritize and schedule own work, and work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The minimum full-time salary range is between $70,000 - $75,000.
