State of Montana Certification Specialist (00928) in Helena, Montana

The Certification Bureau of the Office of Inspector General is responsible for surveying and certification of health care facilities in Montana to assure compliance with federal regulations. Compliance with federal regulations allows the facilities to bill Medicare and Medicaid for services rendered. This position provides program support to the Certification Bureau with federal survey reports, the certified nurse aide program, and nurse aide training programs. Key Responsibilities Include: * Provides administrative support to the Certification Bureau by processing the data, letters, and reports required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). * Responsible for ensuring data is uploaded to CMS databases, keeping timeframes set by CMS, keeping logs updated, keeping the public website updated, and filing documents. * Corresponds with Bureau supervisors and CMS Regional office staff regarding workflow, regulations, and provider survey and certification. * Enters facility incidents into CMS database, assists surveyors with processes and procedures, scans information, and assists supervisors with requests. * Maintains the CMS ASPEN database system and generates reports for surveyors and managers when needed. * Oversees the Nurse Aide Program certification and recertification process for Montana and ensures compliance with federal regulations * Approves or denies new certified nurse aide applications and recertification applications. * Enters certification data via the MT Nurse Aide Registry (NARS) database. * Receives and tracks complaints or incident reports and contacts law enforcement or courts for final judgments and submits negative findings to the national exclusions database. * Corresponds with applicants, other state and federal agencies, nurse aides, facilities, and employers regarding verification of information and certification training or educational programs. * Reviews and approves nurse aide training program curriculum and instructors’ licenses and resumes to ensure training programs meet federal mandates. * Verifies and approves annual university/college curriculums to ensure coursework meets federal program reqquirements. * Serves as training coordinator for CMS required training which involves participating with conference calls, biennial training, and communications with the federal office regarding training programs, current needs, enrollments and evaluations. * Coordinates the federally mandated CMS training for bureau staff. * Facilitates training and onboarding for new bureau staff. Physical and Environmental Demands: *This position works in a typical office environment and requires extensive keyboarding.
