St. Peters Health Chief Information Officer in Helena, Montana
The Chief Information Officer reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and includes the following skills, qualities, and responsibilities:
Executive LeadershipProvide leadership, support and direction for information systems through collaboration, education and relationship building with all departments at SPH.
Function as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and as an advisor and leader to management and physicians on information technology matters.
Support the mission and values of the SPH and ensure that information systems/technology strategies aligns with our mission and vision.
Build strong, trusting relationships with physicians and health system leadership that will optimize customer satisfaction at all levels.
Business Results
Oversee the development of the appropriate technology roadmaps that will facilitate the achievement of our mission and vision.
Provide oversight of the Information Systems, Informatics, and Analytics Departments of St. Peter’s Health (SPH) by providing operational leadership and visionary direction.
Develops and communicates the information systems strategic plan and vision at all levels of the organization, ensuring proper alignment with the SPH strategic plan and stated objectives.
Develops standards and procedures for the selection, implementation, integration and support of the required systems as identified by SPH senior leadership.
Develops and directs the architecture and execution of a comprehensive digital strategy that includes how to best integrate the use of Artificial Intelligence techniques that seamlessly integrates with the hospital's overall strategic plan, enhancing healthcare delivery, patient engagement, and operational efficiency.
Establish the appropriate Epic support model demonstrating s deep understanding of Epic and the appropriate governance model needed to advance the use of Epic at SPH.
Performance
Oversee the relationship of strategic technology providers ensuring that these key partners provide the contracted services maximizing the value as envisioned and outlined in our service agreements.
Ensures appropriate management of organizational performance metrics and measures. Accountable for expected performance of departments for which role oversees relative to industry performance and standards and makes the appropriate recommendations to the CEO and senior management which will result in improved results.
Translates organizational direction into specific team and individual job expectations and manages performance through effective monitoring of defined metrics, coaching and feedback. Provides performance feedback to employees throughout the organization to achieve performance goals.
Monitors the productivity of information systems resources and manages those resources in a cost-effective, flexible and timely manner.
Collaborates with SPH Chief Compliance Officer to ensure information security policies and procedures meet regulatory compliance and targeted levels of internal controls.
Resource Management
Influences results through appropriate staffing and budgetary management, removing performance barriers and maximizing available resources.
Develops and monitors annual information resources operating and capital budgets to ensure that areas of responsibility have the necessary funding to carry out established organizational goals and objectives.
Develops efficient departmental operations and strives to reduce costs whenever possible.
Staff Development
Establishes a safe, collaborative environment capitalizing on employee talents, experience, interests and diversity to reach goals. Provides appropriate orientation and ongoing training and development opportunities to maximize staff development and contribution. Identifies high performers and partners with them to provide opportunities for growth and development in the organization.
Mentors, develops and hires (as necessary) a strong, service-oriented management team.
Maximizes staff performance and technical expertise through clearly defined objectives, training, skill development and performance evaluation.
Governance
Develops and communicates an information systems management and governance structure to all levels of the organization.
Ensures that the management structure supports the effective delivery of systems and the provision of excellent service.
Facilitate the deployment of a governance framework that allows for the effective provisioning of Information Services to SPH departments through the engagement of the leadership of those same departments.
