JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): The Echo Technician responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Primary responsibility for performing echocardiograms, EKG’s, Holter monitoring, Exercise Stress Tests, Pharmacologic Stress Testing, Peripheral vascular tests and other diagnostic tests as necessary. Understands and adheres to safety policies and procedures when working in radiation controlled areas. Communicates continuously with physician about patient condition. Performs diagnostic tests as necessary. Operates all equipment safely and correctly. This individual will participate in. This individual will possess strong assessment skills, be able to multitask and react to changing situations easily. This individual will also be accountable for the process development of creating and implementing policies and procedures in the Cardiology Clinic and working as a team player with others. He/ She will be responsible for identifying quality improvement projects that need implementing. This person will demonstrate knowledge of budgetary restriction and assist in planning the annual budget in the Cardiology Clinic. He/ She will be responsible for identifying quality improvement projects that need implementing. This technician plays an active role in identifying new trends within the area of Cardiology. He/She will be required to attend 80% of staff meetings.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE : 1-3 years experience performing echocardiograms and stress testing preferred.

EDUCATION : High School diploma or GED preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular technologies and/or 1-3 years experience preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY : Registered Cardiovascular technologies preferred. Current BCLS required. Registered Echo Technician and Certified ACLS required within 12 months of hire.

Ap titudes : Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback, and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments
