St. Peters Health Coordinator of Urgent Care Services Urgent Care North, PRN 25401.608 in Helena, Montana

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Registered Nurse Coordinator is accountable for leadership of department staff and manages the patient flow in Urgent Care. Provides leadership and mentoring of nursing staff, provides employee performance evaluation input, and participate in hiring of new employee with the Manager/Director. Accountable for direct supervision of departmental staff during shift. Responsible for maintaining direct communication with Manager/Director. Must exhibit critical thinking skills, must be decisive in decision making and exhibit excellent professional communication within the healthcare team and Urgent Care. Must be professionally tactful with communication and facilitate patient flow and care within the Urgent Care. Provides direct and indirect clinical care under the supervision of a group of Providers. Must possess exceptional interpersonal and training ability. Must be able to use critical thinking and leadership skills to prioritize needs of the clinic, allowing for most efficient clinic flow, and optimal patient experience. Works closely with Staffing Coordinator. Must facilitate patient care as the primary focus. Must assist in the process to build a well-trained, clinically competent and positive team to support Provider schedules. Serves as a resource for Urgent Care staff. Must maintain staff competency documentation and complies with HR to assure policies and procedures are maintained in the workforce. Must possess exceptional organizational skills. Utilizes communication skills with patient complaints and conflict resolution. Must assure that patients are appropriately educated and scheduled for procedures as necessary. Assist and train staff to support Provider during procedures. All staff is considered first to be an employee of St. Peter’s Medical Group first. Because of this, there is an expectation that they may float to other SPHMG areas when not needed in assigned area. Required to accommodate for and attend 80% of all scheduled meetings.

Essential Position Functions

  • Effectively triage patients presenting for care rapidly and accurately.

  • Obtains assessment data, determines priorities of care and implements appropriate interventions based on identification of physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.

  • Monitors effectiveness and patient response to interventions and treatments implemented.

  • Assists Staffing Coordinator with coordination and maintenance of staffing schedules

  • Assumes responsibility for ordering supplies, equipment maintenance, accreditation readiness, and overall clinic appearance/cleanliness

  • Routinely evaluates clinic for accreditation readiness/compliance and submits assessment/checklist to Manager/Director on monthly basis

  • Routinely communicates with supervisors regarding issues and works to improve

  • Responds and assists with all clinic emergencies

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Sufficient experience to demonstrate the ability to organize, train and educate a workforce of clinical and non-clinical staff. Experience in overseeing department or unit operations is preferred. Knowledge of electronic documentation and patient tracking required. Must possess the clinical expertise and experience to manage a clinic operation. Must demonstrate maturity in judgment, demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to oversee multiple physician practices or related experience.

EDUCATION: Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS. ACLS and PALS certifications preferred. BSN Preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana State Board of Nursing licensure as an RN. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and re-certification every two years.

Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, service-oriented, empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and in a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments. Possesses knowledge of nursing roles in the clinical setting and demonstrates an active, engaged willingness and aptitude for on-going professional development, completion of required education and integration of experience into applied nursing practice. Excellent critical thinking in stressful situations is required.
