Helena Food Share Position Description Customer Relations Coordinator Reports To: Program Operations Director Position Summary: Helena Food Share has provided emergency food assistance to those in the greater Helena area since 1987. Our mission is to serve our neighbors in need by providing food in a respectful and dignified way and by working with others to eliminate hunger in the greater Helena area. We pursue this mission while working toward our vision of creating a hunger-free community. The Customer Relations Coordinator oversees the Market check-in desk and responds to all incoming calls and inquiries about Helena Food Share. This position directs inquiries to the appropriate staff, answers questions about programs, coordinates mobile delivery requests, coordinates the schedule for the Community Room, and ensures information about Market hours/holidays, Community Room activities and upcoming events are posted and shared with customers and other appropriate constituencies. The position also oversees the use of the Community Room by outside organizations by scheduling the room and ensuring it is ready for their use.This position works in the same area as volunteers who check in customers during Market hours. The Customer Relations Coordinator provides staff support to the check-in and intake volunteers when customers have questions or if they need additional support.Key Responsibilities:1.Operations•Ensure the Check-in desk is a welcoming, efficient, and supportive area for customers shopping in the Market.•Notify Program and Operations staff when something needs to be addressed in the Market, such as product availability, shopping procedures, or safety.•Work with staff and community groups to coordinate the schedule for the Community Room. The Coordinator will manage the schedule.•Manage postings for the Charlie Cart and Recipe Board.2.Administrative Support•Answer all incoming phone calls and direct them accordingly. Respond to all customer inquiries about food programs or home delivery.•Respond to or direct appropriately all emails sent to the Info email.3.Community Outreach and Engagement: •Direct or escort donors to the appropriate location to donate food or funds. •Serve as the point of contact for community groups utilizing the Community Room (CR) for training or activities. Ensure the CR calendar is updated and accurate, that the room is clean and set up appropriately for visiting groups, and manage any postings for CR events.Desired Qualifications:•Education: a High School diploma or equivalent is required, and secondary education is preferred•Experience: customer service work experience is essential•Applicable Work Skills: empathy, communication, adaptability, efficiency, relationship building, problem-solving, program knowledge, digital literacy, patience, attention to detail, ability to work is a space with many activities around, and proficiency with phone systems, email, word processing, and spreadsheets•Passion for and commitment to the mission of addressing food insecurity and hunger in the community•Successful completion of criminal background and motor vehicle record checks prior to employment•Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on an individual basis. Additional Qualifications:•Experience working in the nonprofit sector or with social service organizations•Experience working with people in poverty or crisis•Knowledge of food bank operations and issues related to food insecurityPhysical Requirements:•Ability to lift 50 lbs from the floor•Ability to work at a desk for the majority of the dayWork Environment: •The Helena Food Share culture is one of inclusion and support. All other programs and activities are in adjacent areas within the facility. •Conference rooms are available for meetings and employee breaks. •Staff parking is available on-street in adjacent neighborhoods. •All-staff meetings are held monthly. Other meetings are scheduled as needed.Schedule: This position works a standard 40-hour week, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required for special events or activities, including periodic Market or program support. Salary and Benefits:This is a non-exempt/hourly position. The salary range is $19-$22 per hour, depending on experience.  Compensation also includes paid holidays (including birthdays and work anniversaries), annual leave, sick leave, retirement plan, and health insurance premium support for the employer-sponsored health insurance plan.
