About Us: Hello! We’re the Justice Information Technology Services (JITS) team at the Montana Department of Justice (DOJ). We serve the Montana Attorney General providing vital Information Technology (IT) infrastructure which Montanan’s rely upon to support state and local law enforcement. Our team is dynamic and collaborative, and we have a big impact. We manage the IT systems, services, and interfaces to support approximately 900 DOJ employees, and over 3,000 Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) customers across the state working together to make a difference. JITS supports DOJ staff involved with legal cases concerning the State and its people, Montana missing persons, victim services, children’s justice, consumer protection, criminal investigations, highway safety, motor vehicle operations, gambling control, criminal history information, and forensic laboratory services. The Role: The Cybersecurity Architect ensures that security requirements necessary to protect the DOJ mission and business processes are addressed in all aspects of enterprise architecture. What You’ll Do: Participate in system planning and design, risk assessments, technical audits, problem resolution, and collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure security functions are integrated into all phases of the system lifecycle. Mentor information technology personnel on best practices, and security trends. What We’re Looking for: An experienced Security Analyst, IT systems or Network administrator with at least 3 years of progressively increasing responsibility and demonstrated experience working with security systems, desktops, server, and network infrastructure. The candidate will be seeking to work in a collaborative environment, is flexible working with others, and willing to work nights and weekends if necessary. Job Overview: The Cybersecurity Architect ensures that security requirements necessary to protect the DOJ mission and business processes are addressed in all aspects of enterprise architecture. The incumbent will work to implement security controls in support of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Participate in system planning and design, risk assessments, technical audits, problem resolution, and collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure security functions are integrated into all phases of the system lifecycle. Mentor junior information technology personnel on best practices, and security trends. * Day-to-day duties are focused onworking in collaboration to: o Design, Develop, implement, and integrate security protocols and procedures into all DOJ systems (mobile devices, endpoint, servers, network). o Conduct security reviews and assessments. o Investigate and resolve security events. o Produce hardened baseline images for workstations and servers. o Design host-based firewalls. o Design file level access controls. o Design application whitelisting. o Design User account controls. o Design hardened networks. o Design micro segmentation networking. o Design secure VPN solutions to connect remote sites and workers. o Design and manage Next generation firewalls policies. o Design and manage Intrusion detection and prevention systems. o Design and manage Application Security Manager (ASM) and Web Application Firewalls (WAF) policies. o Design virtualization and containerization technologies securely. o Design disaster recovery, and data backup solutions that follow the 3-2-1 principle. o Design software deployment packages. o Deploy security patches in a timely manner. o Design any other technology not listed, but paramount and vital to the continuity of DOJ operations. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field. * Four years of experience in network or systems administration on an enterprise level. /Other combinations of education, certification or experience may be substituted./ Preferred Qualifications: * *2 years of experience managing endpoints (workstations, mobile devices, etc.) * 2 years of service desk experience * Demonstrated knowledge of cyber security landscape -- threats, trends, technologies. * Demonstrated knowledge of proactive network and system searches to detect and isolate advanced threats. * Experience with building network and application security solutions typically found in an enterprise-level IT infrastructure. * Demonstrated knowledge of: o Windows (Workstation and Server) o Linux (RHEL, Debian, CentOS, etc.) o VMWare ESXi or other Virtualization technology o Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) o Cloudflare WAF o F5 Big IP o Firewall Administration o OSI Model o TCP/IP o Routing, switching, VLAN, WLAN technology. o IPSec and VPN administration o Active Directory o Endpoint security o Databases o IDS and IPS o Security event monitoring o Antivirus technologies o Software packaging and deployment o Programming / Scripting Languages *Special Instructions: The selection procedures to be used in evaluating the applicant's qualification may include, but are not limited to, an evaluation of the résumé, a structured interview, performance test, academic transcripts, reference/background checks and fingerprint checks.
