State of Montana Database Administrator in Helena, Montana

The Financial Services Technology Bureau is located within the State Financial Services Division and is looking for an experienced Database Administrator/Analyst to work with our two other Administrators who partner closely together to support the Statewide Accounting, Budgeting and Human Resources Systems (SABHRS). You would resolve issues for users by reviewing server logs, restarting servers, keeping servers up to date and monitoring cpu and memory. You would support the development team in copying code changes from lower development environments to test environments and then to production environments through the PeopleSoft migration processes. You would also monitor performance and usage of the databases to resolve issues before they become a problem for our user community. Specific conditions will be outlined as part of the job offer and must adhere to state policy./ What are we looking for? Competencies: • Understanding and knowledge of Oracle Database to be able to install, configure, patch, backup using RMAN, and tune a database running on Red Hat Linux servers. • Knowledge of security productions BIG-IP F5 application firewall, Sentinel One, VMWare Aria Self-Service, Windows and Linux scripting. • Use analyses and judgment to make decisions to solve complex problems. • Understand system data integrity and apply information security standards. • Identify and consider possible alternatives before making decisions. • Find effective solutions while considering short-term and long-term impact. • Work independently and as part of a team. • Follow policies, procedures, and industry standards. • Build constructive and effective relationships with internal and external customers. • Understand personal authority and when to escalate issues. • Generate ideas and fresh perspectives and engage in open-minded thinking. • Adapt to changing conditions and work responsibilities. • Display optimism about assigned work, share expertise, and respond positively to challenges. • Provides leadership and/or mentors in areas of knowledge that will help others. • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and to both technical and non-technical people. Bonus Competencies: • Understanding and knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft to be able to install, configure and patch Oracle PeopleSoft HRMS and FSCM applications running on Linux and Windows servers. • Understanding and knowledge of software such as Weblogic, Tuxedo, Microfocus COBOL, Apache HTTPD, PeopleSoft Application Designer and BMC Control-M agent software. • Knowledge of Windows File Server administration including DFS, backup and share Access Control List. • Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures associated with the design, development, and support of computer financial applications. Education and Experience: * • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and two years applicable experience. OR • An Associate’s degree in computer science or related field and four years applicable experience.
