The College Board Director, AP Online Platform Solutions in Helena, Montana

The Director, AP Online Platforms and Solutions will act as a "voice of the customer" within the AP Program for its public-facing AP websites. They will assist with overseeing the day-to-day operations for AP web properties maintained by the AP Delivery team in accordance with the overall strategic roadmap for the AP Program. This includes responsibility for key operational processes with the AP community, internal AP Program staff, Communications and Marketing, IT/Technology and other stakeholders to ensure relevant AP digital properties are continuously tested, available, accurate and user friendly and any issues resolved efficiently. The Director will be responsible for both ongoing excellence of these internal and external processes, as well as continuous optimization and improvement. In their capacity overseeing the ongoing transformation and maintenance of AP's external web presence, the Director will assist and manage the planning and execution of external user-testing activities with multiple stakeholder groups, which drives ongoing improvements for existing digital properties and ensures that new development fulfills the requirements of all external and internal constituents.

The Director also supports AP Program Delivery and AP Program Development by providing guidelines for web content development to ensure it adheres to websites templates. This role will have responsibilities managing web content/copy decks and drafting initial versions of web content for both educator and student audiences. Role will interface with program stakeholders to finalize approaches for the ultimately implemented web change requests.

Additionally, the Director, AP Online Platforms and Solutions is responsible for implementing change requests for College Board Web sites, utilizing the enterprise content management software (Drupal) as to implement simple content updates that are requested from internal business sponsors.

Primary Responsibilities

Ongoing solution/editorial implementation for digital properties:
Organize AP program digital updates and content management processes for relevant AP websites and applications.
Work with stakeholders in AP to analyze and document existing processes, contributors, and approvers for various sites and content.
Help to develop clearly defined workflows that can effectively support multiple AP properties to enable efficient, accurate updates with minimum disruption to end users and staff required to provide approval.
Contribute to content development for relevant AP websites and digital properties. This includes:
Outlining, and, where appropriate, providing first draft and editing of required content for relevant AP professional and student tools and services with internal and external parties.
Work with AP and Communications & Marketing to ensure web content is accurate, consistent and follows the College Board and AP style and brand guidelines.
Work with internal teams to make curricula-related content updates to the AP Central and AP Student sites and coordinate when dependencies arise on other AP web properties.
Manage the flow of prioritized web creation and/or update tasks:
Work with AP web product owner and program stakeholders to understand priority and timing of update needs
Establish implementation timeframes, working with content editorial, web production, and requesting stakeholders to understand complexity and any critical milestones related to the work
Manage daily adherence to final delivery date, raising impediments or closing issues related to tasks as needed
Implement online solutions in accordance with stakeholder requirements and timelines.
Works closely with a cross-functional team (product and project management, editorial staff and development teams) to implement online solutions across various audience groups
Translates business needs of the Advanced Placement program and others into innovative and focused web solutions.
Responsible for understanding, evaluating and providing constructive feedback and guidance to fine tune web content requests from program and department staff.
Coordinates with delivery management team to ensure projects launch successfully.
Support the modernization and improvement of digital properties
Help manage the ongoing evolution of AP operational websites
Assist in defining requirements for AP operational websites, and provide input/collaboration with AP, IT, Marketing (and other) stakeholders to set and execute the roadmap for modernization and other improvements
Manage activities related to brand updates, web template creation/updates, and overall content model changes to facilitate the seamless migration and ongoing relevance of AP web properties
Ensure web properties are updated to take advantage of the new tools AP is developing for students, teachers and administrators in ways that streamline and enhance the overall user experience for external constituents
Coordinate AP user testing activities, collaborating with AP, Design, and Technology teams on external constituent outreach and usability feedback.
Creates user task lists and works with Design Research on test setup, outreach to secure appropriate professionals and/or students, and support throughout testing.
Helps develop specifications and documentation to share initial findings and quick feedback to inform in-progress development and design.
Facilitates usability testing and focus groups for AP operational websites

Qualifications needed for the role
Bachelors' degree
At least 6 years of experience in web product analysis, web content editorial, web content management, and/or systems operations.

Preferred skills for the role
Experience with and understanding of the conventions of web design, including content taxonomies, content types, and information architecture
Experience with a variety of content management systems (especially Drupal) for use within online tools
Experience with product development and end-user product and usability testing desired
Experience in creating and managing content for diverse audiences within a digital content management system
Experience with project management and creating/maintaining project plans
Detail- and process-oriented with commitment to delivering high quality on all deliverables
Willingness to engage in the goals, policies and content of the AP program in order to maintain a global, product perspective while managing the process details
Experience managing confidential data and ensuring high accuracy across variable tasks
Strong team collaboration, people and communications skills
Exceptional ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Experience writing and editing user-friendly web copy
Demonstrates ability to both define and adhere to established processes but flexible enough to adjust when situations arise
Manages day to day work while also aware of when to alert managers to important new information or needs from the field or internal stakeholders; raise issues for discussion as challenges or problems arise.
