Job Summary:

Lead a dynamic and innovative organization dedicated to fostering collaboration and growth within Hackster.io, Avnet’s global engineering community. Responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive business development strategy to expand the community, forge strategic partnerships, and enhance revenue streams.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements a strategic business development plan aligned with company’s vision, business goals and community objectives, including operating plans and budgets for long term growth.

  • Establishes and nurture strong partnerships with the industry, including engineering companies, educational institutions, and technology partners, to enhance the value proposition of the community

  • Engages internal and external stakeholders within global sales, product and marcom teams and across all Avnet businesses

  • Provides leadership and management direction for ideation, development and execution of initiatives across Hackster’s diverse customer accounts, including Hackster-led community activities and programs, ensuring a diverse and engaged user base

  • Develops and manages budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, adjusting as needed to meet financial guidance

  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates contracts with partners and sponsors to ensure favorable terms; Works closely with legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements

  • Conducts frequent market research and provides regular reporting on industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities for potential growth areas

  • Work closely with Director of Engineering to ensure website strategy alignment and creating a roadmap that aligns with business priorities

  • Leads and mentors team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous professional growth

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications:

  • Provides leadership and direction through managers and senior managers. Accountable for the performance and results of a major function that has cross-organizational impact and is comprised of multiple departments and/or teams.

  • Establishes policies appropriate for the function. Interprets and recommends modifications to enterprise-wide policies and practices. Adapts and executes functional business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategies. Responsible for efficient utilization of significant resources within the function.

  • Objectives are defined in collaboration with senior management and results assessed with a long-term perspective. Decisions are guided by functional strategy and priorities.

  • Collaborates with senior management and others concerning matters of significance to the company. Routinely conducts briefings for senior management and/or key external contacts. Influences senior management or customers/clients.

  • Decisions likely have serious impact on the overall success or failure of a function. Erroneous decisions or recommendations result in critical delays or modifications to company objectives and cause long-term harm to business operations.

Work Experience:

  • Typically 10+ years including 5+ years of management experience

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills including ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, digital media environment.

  • Familiar with hardware and electronics industry, including open source community

  • Is comfortable working with a remote team

  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills – comfortable liaising with people at all levels across global boarders

  • Strong written communication skills including grammar and proof-reading ability

  • Solutions-oriented with an ability to think on your feet and demonstrate personal accountability, initiative, and follow-through

  • Proficient in Microsoft and G-Suite.
