Meta Director, Data Engineering in Helena, Montana

Summary:

We are looking for a Director of Data Engineering who will help chart the course for the data foundations that our teams depend on, and establish a world class data culture across Meta. In this role, you will help shape the direction of our apps and our products, both in defining the data engineering vision and roadmap to help our teams establish and deliver on its goals. In addition to data infrastructure and data architecture skills, the ideal candidate should also have a proven track record of leading and scaling data teams, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project management leadership, and a strong vision for how data can proactively improve companies.

Required Skills:

Director, Data Engineering Responsibilities:

  1. Proactively drive the vision for data foundation and analytics to accelerate building and improvement of cross platform components across Meta, and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.

  2. Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability.

  3. Build a high-quality data engineering team and design the team to scale.

  4. Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.

  5. Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.

  6. Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.

  7. Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations.

  8. Contribute to improving data engineering competency across Meta.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 12+ years of experience in BI and Data Warehousing.

  2. Experience scaling and managing 50+ person teams.

  3. Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects.

  4. Project management experience.

  5. Data architecture experience.

  6. Experience in SQL or similar languages.

  7. Development experience in at least one object-oriented language (Python, Java, etc.).

  8. Demonstrated experience driving strategy and deliver impactful results.

  1. Experience with large volume data sets and data visualization tools.

  2. Self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguous problem spaces, biased towards execution, and adept at identifying patterns to put structure around.
