Carroll College Director of Academic Support & Retention in Helena, Montana

Description: Carroll College invites applications for our Director of Academic Support & Retention. This position is responsible for leadership, supervision, and management of academic advising, academic support, CARE team, melt prevention, retention and persistence, and for representing Carroll when responding to issues and concerns related to academic support and/or retention faced by students and their parents. This position is also responsible for compliance oversight for students monitored by federal programs such as Veterans Benefits. The Director ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations in regard to TITLE IX, FERPA, Clery Act, Student Code of Conduct, and crisis-response efforts as stipulated by Carroll College policies; advocates for a student-responsive institutional focus, and advocates for students’ voices in institutional shared governance; provides strategic leadership and oversight to achieve the College’s retention efforts and goals.Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years’ experience related to education and academic counseling, budget management and supervision of professional staff. Experience working with upper-level administration, staff and faculty at an institution of higher learning. Experience with student cohorts such as new, transfer and returning students, academically at-risk students, students with disabilities, and other special populations. Experience with placement, first-year initiatives, and academic support programs such as supplemental instruction and academic coaching. Knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends in undergraduate education, academic advising, and student retention.Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
