Helena College is seeking qualified applicants who wish to become part of a dynamic and creative team for a full-time position as a Director of Cosmetology. Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Dean/CEO and serving as a member of the campus academic leaders? team, the Director of Cosmetology will provide overall administrative direction and coordination of the cosmetology program. Provides direct supervision for cosmetology faculty, both full-time and part-time, and manages the Salon at Helena College. Must hold a Montana cosmetology instructor license to serve as both substitute and salon instructor. General Administration Official representative for the Cosmetology Department throughout the College. Ensure all accreditation standards are met and maintained. Ensure the requirements mandated by the Montana Board of Barbers & Cosmetologists are met. Prepare reports as needed for the State of Montana. Work with faculty to review and revise curriculum and ensure academic catalog and website are accurate. Complete assessment process to develop, promote, and evaluate programs to achieve goals. Develop and administer assigned budget allocation and other long-range planning details to achieve department objectives. Interpret and implement the administration policies, rules, regulations, and recommendations of the College. Hold faculty/staff meetings for team building, idea generation, training, and advisement on college procedures and regulations. Participate in the governance and committee work of the College as necessary. Management of salon operations to fulfil academic mission and operate as a sustainable service for the community. Serve as substitute classroom instructor in the case of faculty absence to ensure continuity of schedule. Serve as salon instructor as necessary. Ordering and maintaining of all equipment and supplies for the program. Student Interaction Coordinate and supervise the admission of students into the program. Assist with the recruitment of students. Support College advising of cosmetology students. Serve as point of contact for student inquiries and concerns. Personnel Supervision Orient, guide, assign, and evaluate all cosmetology faculty. Recommend faculty appointments and evaluate all full-time and part-time instructors. Compute faculty load and plan teaching assignments. Resolve staff and/or student problems in cosmetology program. Provide opportunities for training and conference attendance. Community Outreach and Relations Maintain open communication with Montana Board of Barbers & Cosmetologists Serve as primary contact and develops relationships with business, industry, other educational providers, and community agencies. Provide leadership in securing external funding for the Cosmetology Program. Maintain an active industry advising board to guide the program. Supervises all instructors in the cosmetology program. While serving as salon instructor will also be supervising the work of students performing services for the public as part of the learning process. Reports to the Dean/CEO and supervises both full-time and adjunct cosmetology instructors. Minimum Qualifications Must have an active Montana cosmetology instructors? license, or the ability to obtain by January 1, 2025 Excellent communication skills. Experience working in the cosmetology industry. Management experience in all facets of running a salon and supervising employees. Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in an active salon environment. Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel Preferred Teaching experience Experience administering an academic program Knowledge of State of Montana procurement procedures Benefit and Salary Information $70,000 annual salary.
