Helena College Director of Student Wellbeing & Engagement in Helena, Montana

Helena College University of Montana a comprehensive two-year college, provides access to and support of high quality lifelong educational opportunities for our diverse community. Helena College is seeking qualified applicants who wish to become part of a dynamic and creative team for a full-time position as a Director of Student Wellbeing & Engagement.The Director of Student Wellbeing & Engagement, which reports to the Executive Director of Enrollment and is a member of Helena College leadership team as part of the Dean’s Cabinet Advisory Council, is responsible for services, functions, and programming related to three important aspects of the student experience — wellness, support, and activities/engagement at a two-year, commuter college.This is a management position with a high degree of autonomy for making decisions related to the department, but in close coordination with the enrollment team. In particular, coordination of work with the advising team and an authentic understanding of the student experience is necessary for success. Major responsibilities in each area include:Duties and ResponsibilitiesWellness:Instruct and champion student wellness programs on campus through regular active training addressing critical wellness topics to increase participation and engagementMaintain campus food and basic hygiene pantries, conduct staff training to identify food insecurity indicatorsBuild and leverage partnerships with local community resources to provide referrals and resources students.Represent Helena College serving on MUS committeesSupport:Chairing Helena College CARE/BIT TeamProvide timely and appropriate intervention to students addressing and advocating for a wide variety of student needsServing as Helena College Maxient AdministratorServing as case manager to students referred for extra supportReferring students to outside services when necessaryDeveloping resources for academic advisors to use in support of students Student activities and engagement:Empowering students by providing a framework for organizing clubs and activities, driven by student interest at a non-residential, two-year collegeServing as advisor for student government organization (ASHC) with oversight of all student activities and clubsProviding training and support to club advisorsServing as Helena College liaison to Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) and promote opportunities for service to students and employeesBeing present and available for students on both Helena College campusesAttending student events, which may require evening and/or weekend hoursParticipating in college events as part of enrollment team This position supervises student employees but no staff.Minimum QualificationsA bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Excellent communication skills are a must.The Director of Student Wellbeing and Engagement must have experience with:Planning and managing activities and eventsDeveloping and running information campaignsEstablishing relationships with colleagues in order to work effectively across departmentsBuilding and maintaining community partnershipsWorking with individuals experiencing life challengesEngaging in emotionally charged conversationsWorking independently with minimal direct supervision of day-to-day responsibilitiesManaging a budgetWorking in a professional, office-type settingIn addition, the Director must be interested in:Working directly with students on a regular basisPublic speakingHosting eventsServing the campus in a very public-facing positionReaching out to community organizations to both research possibilities and develop relationshipsParticipating in campus activities, which may mean evenings and weekends on occasionWorking with students experiencing difficult situationsServing as an advocate for studentsPreferredExperience working with students in two-year college environment Salary and Benefit Information$56,500.00 annual salary.Benefits include a comprehensive and competitive group benefits package including medical and life Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, full tuition waiver for employee, partial tuition waiver for dependents, professional development, and wellness program.
