State of Montana Dispatcher - Seasonal Part Time in Helena, Montana
* *Position Title: Dispatcher - Seasonal Part Time The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)is recruiting for multiple seasonal, part time Dispatchers.The MDT Transportation Management Center (TMC) dispatcher provides communication services to MDT staff, Federal agencies, National Weather Service, Disaster and Emergency Services, and law enforcement. Duties include road reporting, incident dispatching, emergency communication, variable message sign (VMS) operation, Roadway Management System (RMS) operations and system maintenance. At times, communication requires speaking with highly emotionally charged individuals. There are times of high stress levels, and the Dispatcher must be able to remain calm under emotional emergency conditions. The TMC operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. Employees should expect to work varying shifts throughout the year including weekends and holidays. Hours may vary between 20 and 40 hours per week and shifts are 4, 8, or 12 hours long. The season typically begins in late October and ends in early April, depending on weather. New employees will complete one week of training. The training is held Monday through Friday during normal business hours and will begin Monday, October 28, 2024. Employees will begin working their assigned shifts Saturday, November 2, 2024. No previous work experience is required. _Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:_ Ability to operatea computer terminal and peripheral equipment: multi-line phone system, and two-way radios.
