State of Montana Drinking Water Scientist in Helena, Montana

We are looking for a Drinking Water Scientist to join our team in the Monitoring and Reporting Section of the Public Water Bureau. The Drinking Water Scientist performs scientific and technical analyses, calculations, assessments and determinations essential to the implementation of the drinking water program in the State of Montana. Responsibilities include: Reviewing treatment specifications, protocols, and processes at existing and proposed public water supplies; Assessing and responding to drinking water treatment related functions, questions, and emergencies; Determining whether facilities are utilizing the best available technology, and maintained and operated in compliance with drinking water rules and requirements; Reviewing and implementing state and federal statutes, rules, policies, and industry accepted standards; Acting as a liaison for the Department to the public and industry on drinking water quality matters; and Function as a mentor and resource for other Department staff, the regulated community, consultants, engineers, and the general public. This position directly impacts the health of the residents of Montana using public water systems as their source of drinking water. Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, engineering, environmental health field practices, or a related field. • Three years' of work experience in a similar field. • Current valid driver's license and clean driving record in accordance with the State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
