We’re looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced Lead to build, lead, and grow a suite of Energy Equity offerings to our utility clients (electric, natural gas). ICF has over 50 years of experience advising utilities on a variety of issues, including integrated resource planning, power and gas market analysis, distributed energy resources, utility customer programs, environmental strategies, and a host of other issues. We employ over 1100 energy professionals worldwide and have worked with every major investor-owned utility in North America, and many overseas, as well as municipal and coop utilities.
As we continue to grow our impact in this critical sector, we seek a leader to leverage our existing capabilities to build out and deliver programs which specifically address energy equity as a core objective. This practice will be part of our Growth, Engagement, and Insights line of business, and will report directly to its Senior Vice President. The position will have oversight of three individual workstreams focusing on: a) equity measurement, goal setting, and community insights, 2) ensuring that ICF’s traditional program implementation models appropriately address equity, and 3) developing new program offerings that specifically address equity issues. Each of these three areas currently has leadership and/or teams in place, and the new position will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, guiding, and driving growth within each area through “dotted line” relationships. The position will not have direct reports initially, but may do so in the future. Over time, this role may extend to support equity offerings in other markets.

This is a full-time benefits eligible position based remote.
What you will do:
As the Energy Equity Lead you will be the focal point for drawing together skills from across the firm and identifying and recruiting additional talent to ensure that equity is woven in to both our current and new offerings. More specifically, you will:
Provide thought leadership and strategic direction in the energy equity area to build (in a collaborative team environment) successful service offerings to our existing and new electric and natural gas utility clients. Build awareness of ICF’s capabilities via targeted marketing and outreach strategies.
Collaborate with our larger energy business resulting in effective implementation of program delivery engagements and achievement of equity goals, along with quality, profit, growth, and other objectives.
Lead efforts to establish, integrate, and grow our energy equity capabilities with existing and new clients through the development of a strategy and business plan.
Provide high levels of strategic and business vision, as well as tactical ability to ensure that business objectives are clearly defined and communicated and that internal operations are productive, effective, and measurable. Ensure the teams are agile and adaptive to changing market conditions.
Collaborate with existing equity-centric roles within the Division and ICF
Identify and recruit additional talent with the requisite skills in equity, energy efficiency program design, regulatory strategy. Support organizational capability by developing team members, identifying emerging leaders, investing in new talent, and ensuring high levels of employee engagement.
Act as executive level contact with clients to understand how ICF’s offerings align with their equity and business objectives. Serve as a senior advisor to utility executives on equity related issues.
Provide expert testimony for select engagements.
Play an active leadership role within the Utility Programs and Services Division. Be present in the market and an effective spokesperson for our firm. Use your knowledge of the industry to position ICF’s capabilities and services in a meaningful and strategic way.
As Equity Lead, you will have:
A Bachelor's degree. Master’s degree is a plus.
A demonstrated understanding of equity values, goals, and solutions, ideally within the context of environment, energy and/or utilities. An accredited certification in diversity, equity, and inclusion a plus.
8+ years’ experience developing programs and services that address equity, ideally with an emphasis on energy efficiency, renewable, electrification, or other programs offered by electric and natural gas utilities.
Demonstrated expertise in several of the following areas:
Leadership of cross-functional groups, including the development of new products and services and the development and sponsorship of business plans.
Oversight and delivery of utility resource programs, ideally those with an emphasis on disadvantaged communities.
Customer research, including analysis of customer technology choice, preferences, and usage patterns, including demand for new or differentiated services and rates.
Stakeholder engagement, including the design of processes and facilitation of complex groups of participants.
Regulatory strategy, including development of program filings before public service commissions and provision of expert witness testimony.
Proven track record of successful business development.
Strong business and financial acumen; focused on actions and outcomes.
Ability to set and clearly articulate goals/priorities and exhibit a high level of energy and drive to achieve them. A perspective that encourages personal commitment and holds management and support staff accountable for achieving targets.
Proven track record building operational unity and collaboration, combining business processes, and forging communication to create synergy and growth.
Strategic but hands-on leader with exceptional organizational, communications, and people management skills.
The ability to gain the respect of peers within a leadership team, forge strategic alliances, and be able to influence peers across the organization while achieving key corporate goals.
Demonstrated capabilities in developing effective relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and service providers.
Ability to work with and inspire all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
