State of Montana Fiscal Specialist (00724) in Helena, Montana

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Early Childhood & Family Support Division. This position monitors the budget and related fiscal operations to ensure adequate support for current and planned program operations. Responsibilities of this position include: 1) Designing, developing, and maintaining budget systems, policies, and methods for programs to follow; 2) Oversee and coordinate the preparation and submission of grant applications to attain funding for public health; and 3) Oversee and review the development, monitoring, and management of contracts for goods and services to ensure project outcomes are met within budget and regulatory constraints. * * Why Join DPHHS * * Our mission at DPHHS is to serve Montanans in their communities to improve and protect the health, safety, and well-being, and to empower independence. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity * * * Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) * Ability to understand state and federal rules and regulations related to fiscal and budgetary management. * Skill and understanding of budgets. * Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or related field o Two years of job related experience in finance, auditing, or accounting. o Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. * * How to Apply To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
