Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

At VMware, the HR M&A team partners with Corporate Development and Business Unit leaders as we evaluate and then pursue acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures. From that point forward, Throughout the deal lifecycle we provide leadership on all people decisions related to the deal. Through effective deal management, we build workforce plans that will enable the deal strategy while ensuring an outstanding employee experience.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Manage the people aspects of global mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures. Lead cross functional, global HR teams, create an outstanding employee experience through effective planning and delivery.

  • Partner with the executive sponsor on all people related planning activities

  • Establish go forward plans for talent, compensation and retention with HR deal team members

  • Lead HR diligence (people, practices, and org readiness) and participate in technical diligence

  • Partner cross functionally

  • Track, monitor, report, participate in the entire cycle of M&A projects

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring manager for this role is Sarah Johnson, who leads the global M&A practice for HR. She has eight plus years of HR M&A experience and joined VMware in 2019. The HR deal lead is responsible to effectively manage the engagement with key governance bodies, workstream and cross-functional teams throughout the life cycle of a deal. E.g., Corp Development, the Integration Management Office, Engineering, Legal, the broader HR community, Tax, Finance, Facilities, IT, Sales, etc...

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager.
