This position has responsibility for providing professional development and materials development pertinent to implementing the law. The Specialist identifies needs in professional development in Indian Education for All among K-12 teachers in the State and prioritizes needs in conjunction with legislative intent, input from the MACIE, and criteria developed by OPI Indian Education Division staff. The Specialist research applicable models of professional development to promote the full implementation of the program and identifies partners for collaboration in the delivery of the professional development program. In the area of curriculum development, the Specialist reviews and evaluates curriculum, materials and resources that are culturally accurate and authentic related to Montana Content and Performance standards and the Essential Understandings regarding Montana Indians.
