In addition to employee benefits, there are a wide range of advancement opportunities throughout the Department of Revenue. _Location is open to successful candidate at any DOR field office_ _DUTIES_ Job Overview: This position resides in theProperty Assessment DivisionofDepartment of Revenue. An Industrial Appraiser performs a variety of duties. Duties include conducting thorough and detailed inspections of property, equipment and returns on complex and difficult properties throughout the state to produce a USPAP compliant property appraisal. The incumbent defines the appraisal assignment, amasses, and analyzes industry specific data as well as site specific data, develops benchmark and valuation models, and arrives at value conclusions using the three approaches to value while following statutes, administrative rules, accepted accounting and appraisal principals and procedures. Industrial Appraisers apply advanced subject knowledge, exercise significant independent judgement and initiative in completing appraisals while meeting the required deadlines. Industrial Appraisers defend their appraisals against tax attorney’s from across the country, attend legal proceedings and depositions for themselves as well as the appellants’ witnesses and appraisers to provide industry specific and appraisal expertise to the department’s legal services staff assigned to the case. Throughout the appeal process, the Industrial Appraiser will request data from legal and legal will be providing them data to review, including income and sales information as well as fee appraisals acquired through the appeal process. This data is to be reviewed timely and held confidential. Industrial Appraisers coordinate and provide a range of specialized services, including the training and assisting of Commercial Appraisers and Lead Property Valuation Specialists throughout the state as well as providing expert appraisal assistance to assist them with the valuation of all property at unique facilities. Industrial Appraisers also support the Business Analysts in the maintenance of ongoing program operations. Additional activities include providing professional communication to inquiries from attorney’s, CPA’s, controllers, economic development groups, TIFD’s, and presenting information to members of local taxing jurisdictions including city and county commissioners.
