Supplemental Question: Describe your audit experience which has prepared you for the duties of this position. In your response, provide in detail your number of years of audit work experience, examples of the type of audit engagements you performed, the audit standards followed, and what steps and/or considerations were necessary to perform the audit engagements.
The Internal Audit Group focuses on providing management with independent, objective assurance, and consulting services designed to add value and improve the effectiveness of the department operations and internal controls. This will be accomplished by performing engagements as designated in the Internal Audit Plan. Strong critical thinking, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills are essential to provide MDT’s management and staff with objective evaluation and recommendations for process improvements. It also requires a comprehensive understanding of the overall operation and interrelationships within the department. Auditors must be able to travel in-state 30% of the time; and limited out of state travel.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or a related field.
Internal Auditor I: two years of audit experience.
Internal Auditor II: three years of audit experience, with one year directly related to GAGAS audits.
Senior Internal Auditor: four years of audit experience with two years directly related to GAGAS audits. Senior Internal Auditors must be a CPA or CIA.
This position is covered under a Career Ladder Advancement Policy. Education, professional experience, and professional certifications will determine placement and salary.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to sign a release form, which authorizes the department to conduct a name-based background check.
Driver’s record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant’s permanent driving records. Compliance with Mont. Admin. R. 2.6.201, "State Vehicle Use," and MDT Policy # 6.03.001, State Vehicle Use Policy" are conditions of employment.
