Do you want to be involved with leading and managing a team of network engineers in the network design and architecture planning for the State’s Enterprise Network? Do you want to lead a team in the designing, planning and implementation of emerging network technologies from the ground up? You may be the person we are looking for! * TheIT Systems Architect Supervisoroversees a team of network engineers in designing, architecting, and managing the State’s Enterprise network. This position leads the State’s Enterprise network design team in designing, planning and implementing new and emerging network technologies in areas such as data center core network routing and switching, network firewalls and security, wireless networking, wide-area-networking (WAN) and remote access technologies, as well as Enterprise video conferencing and Enterprise network tools/monitoring/automation. In addition, this position leads and manages the State’s network design team to conduct and assist in proof-of-concept testing as well as conduct engineering planning and design sessions with the State’s various networking vendor partners. This position also assists with various network security audits and risk assessments as well as assists with network disaster recovery planning. Thisjob requires excellent technical and organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively. *Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other IT-related field; AND * Five years’ related networking experience; AND * Two years’ experience supervising professional-level employees; OR * Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. * * Competencies: /Knowledge of:/ · Network routing protocols such as IPv4/IPv6 OSPF and BGP · Carrier leased transport and wide-area-network (WAN) technologies · Multi-Protocol- Label-Switching (MPLS) vrf routing · Industry best practices for Enterprise Network Security · Network Layer 4 and 7 Firewall Technologies · Network VPN Technologies// · Network Authentication Technologies · Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) Technology · Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE · Cisco CCNA/CCNP · Budgeting and large project expenditure planning · Project management principles, practices, and techniques. /Ability to:/ * Supervise and support highly-skilled and technical team members; * Manage a budget driven by billed services; * Develop and manage budgeting for large projects and expenditures * Effectively communicate with diverse levels of management and stakeholders; * Effectively interact with vendors on behalf of State agencies; * Establish and maintain effective working relationships in the public and private sector; * Identify problems, emerging issues and trends, and establish strategies to address them; * Translate new technologies into sound business solutions; * Recommend a variety of enterprise network firewall (L4/L7), secure VPN (Client/Site), and network authentication design solutions using resourceful approaches and research when necessary. * Communicate technical information with both technical and non-technical people at all levels in state government; * Develop effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, employees of state government, and citizens of the state; * Work effectively under stressful circumstances as priority incidents occur; * Develop and document processes and procedures; * Work independently and in a team environment; * Manage competing deadlines with shifting priorities; * Deliver confident and informed decisions related to matters of Enterprise Wireless network architecture. / / /Preferred:/ * Experience supervising networking professionals; * Experience leading project-based initiatives; * Experience in managing contracts and budgets * * * * Does this sound like you?
