St. Peters Health Kitchen/Food Service Expeditor - Cafeteria, Days 1.0 FTE in Helena, Montana

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): This position under the supervision of the Department Director is responsible for a variety of food service, food stocking, food preparation and clean up tasks either while completing opening or closing the department cafe and coffee shop in accordance with food safety regulations and facility standards for appearance and quality when assigned to the cashier position. This position must be able to assist guests in making menu selections and help with upcoming café or coffee shop promotions. Position is responsible for making coffee specialty drinks according to set recipes and standards. This position is responsible for the monitoring and recording food temperatures assuring safe food service and food holding. This position is responsible for operating cash register software for numerous cashier functions and using the department safe for secure deposits and change funds, counting deposits, reconciling cash at the end of the shift per facility standards.

This position is responsible routine verbal or written assigned tasks include portioning food for patient food service using strict time, temperature and labeling standards; accurately delivering patient trays to the right location; taking patient meal orders in accordance with specific diets, washing dishes, pots and pans utilizing the appropriate equipment, procedures and chemicals while monitoring appropriate temperatures for sanitation requirements, cleans kitchen equipment, carts and coolers; and log temperatures and observations in an acceptable format. Uses a computer for monitoring own payroll, to keep up to date on hospital communications such as policies and weekly newsletters and to complete mandatory training.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Need to have the knowledge of food safety regulations such as required safe cold food holding and hot food holding temperatures that would be gained during at least a 6-month experience in a food service setting. Dishwashing experience using commercial machines, cashiering experience with specific barista experience are not required but helpful and desired.

EDUCATION: Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Must be able to complete mathematical calculations and follow instructions.


Aptitudes: Demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations to make change and complete reports. Must be able to easily communicate with people as well as persuade them to use our services when they can be accommodated. The ability to multitask and efficiently complete a variety of tasks to a high standard.
