Carroll College Librarian - Systems & Web Services in Helena, Montana
Description: Carroll College seeks an innovation and collaborative individual to maintain discovery and access to the print and electronic holdings of the Library. The services developed and maintained by the Systems Librarian directly serve all faculty, students and scholars who use Carroll’s discovery system, Primo (Ex Libris), to access the Library collections for their research and teaching needs. We are looking for a skilled librarian for this 11.5-month benefited, 37.5 hour per week position who will be responsible for:•Serving as the technical expert for the Library’s Integrated Library System (ILS); maintaining and enhancing its operations as well as applications that support its services;•Providing leadership in solving problems associated with the ILS and other services;•Develop and document internal processes and procedures to support operations within Library Infrastructure Systems, including but not limited to the ILS, EZProxy, Worldshare Interlibrary Loan (OCLC), the Institutional Repository (Carroll Scholars), and the Carroll Digital Archives);•Monitor industry trends and best practices related to library technology, and recommend improvements to existing tools and workflows as appropriate;•Collaborate with librarians and colleagues across campus on committees and projects to support library services;•Providing user-centered reference assistance and support to students, faculty, staff, and community patrons;•Working specified hours providing service at the library’s information desk, including some evening shifts, which could include a rotating monthly weekend shift;•Representing Carroll College in TRAILS.Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an MLS, plus work experience in an academic library or similar setting, experience with library-specific information systems and technologies, and familiarity with library technology standards and protocols (such as XML and JSON), library metadata schema (including MARC and RDA), EZProxy, website design (including HTML, Javascript, CSS, and PHP), and relational databases and SQL query writing skills. Must have commitment and demonstrated ability to cooperate in a team environment and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with all library personnel; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a strong service orientation.Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
