This position serves as a Maintenance Reviewer and is responsible for advanced project management, traffic and safety, materials research and development, and plan evaluation activities while ensuring compliance to state and environmental laws. The position manages and evaluates projects during each major phase of planning, bid development, delivery; research, quality control and assurance, equipment, special item designs, traffic control devices, methods, and specifications; and conducts professional reviews of plans and special provisions for proposed and active road maintenance projects. This position is expected to write and distribute critical papers regarding the success or potential improvements for projects and contracts and make recommendation to active field projects underway. Takes an active role in developing the technical abilities of field personnel through training at the Maintenance Academy and Construction Training fixed locations or travel to locations around the state to provide training. The position reports to the Maintenance Reviewer Supervisor.
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Construction Technology, General Engineering) Public Administration, Business (Finance, Management, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Math or Marketing), or a closely related field. 4 years of progressively responsible experience in Highway Maintenance or Construction. Alternative education and experience qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Certifications, licensure, or other credentials include: P.E. is preferred.
Driver’s record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant’s permanent driving records. Compliance with Mont. Admin. R. 2.6.201, "State Vehicle Use," and MDT Policy #6.03.001, "State Vehicle Use Policy" are conditions of employment.
