The Architecture & Engineering Division(A&E)is looking fora dedicated professionalto betheirnext Planning Manager for the State of Montana’sLong-RangeBuilding Program. You wouldwork closely withallStateagencies, the University system,and A&E staff to develop project requestsand provide capital planningfor thebienniallegislative session. Project requests range from small remodels, to repair and maintenance,to extensive renovations, andto new buildingsacross the state. You wouldmeet with agency staff, viewfacilities,learn about theneeds,and recommend solutionsdrawingonyourbroadindustryknowledgetoinvolve mechanical,electricaland/orarchitectural consultantsas needed. You would thenhelp createproject descriptions,dopreliminary planning,cost estimating, and present approved projects to the legislature. This position alsoprovides design-phase management of projectsapprovedthrough the legislative process. Wearing thishat,you wouldfollow procurement and construction laws tobid out projects. Specific conditions will be outlined as part of the job offer and must adhere tostatepolicy. What are we looking for? Education and Experience: * LicensedArchitect or Engineer,and5-years’ experience. * Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Competencies: Knowledge of: * The principles and practices of the architectural and civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering fields * Projectadministration and contract/constructionadministration principles * Economic, safety, and efficiency issues * Capital planning experience would be a plus Ability to: * Use interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy * Manage multiple projects andmaintainfocus on priorities * Collaborate with others to reach mutually beneficial goals andobjectives * Exercise judgement and discretion toestablishand maintain strong working relationships * Communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing * Build consensus among a group of varying stakeholders * Identifyproblems, emergingissuesand trends, andestablishstrategies to address them Does this sound like you?
